ALCO RSC-3

foto-locomotiva

The RSC-3 dates back to the early 1950s, when the American Locomotive Co. (ALCO) decided to produce a locomotive capable of competing with the "general purpose" versions that other American manufacturers were beginning to invest in at that time.

With versatility and style, the Road Switcher model was very functional, both in maneuvers and in forming complete trains, allowing the coupling of multiple units for greater traction capacity.

In Brazil, 12 units of the A1A version were acquired in 1951 by Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro, later transferring the remainder to Fepasa. They were used for all services, from maneuvers to the most famous passenger trains on that road, such as the R Train in non-electrified sections of its route in the upper interior of São Paulo.

The RSC-3s had a productive life, but compared to their RS3 sisters, with the same power, but B-B trick, they were not more fortunate, with only one remaining, which belonged to Companhia de Cimento Ciminas.

Frateschi took care to reproduce the exclusive trick used in the model sold in Brazil, with a new reducer, in addition to the fidelity of design and scale. Presented and made available in painting standard versions, CPEF and Fepasa, phase 1.
