Perhaps the most versatile single locomotive type was the 4-6-0, for it was used in fast passenger and slow freight services, all depending on drivers size and steaming capacity, though they had been mainly used for light passenger services.

Ten-Wheelers were also one of the most attractive steam locomotives, while Consolidations were more popular, had a powerful look, and were mostly used in freight trains.

Not only in Brazil, but all over the world, railroads had lots of Ten-Wheelers that operated in all gauges, either on main and branch lines, in important and small railroads.
